It was a very prefered summer evening on the 10th Sept. 2013 at La Briche Saint Denis where Ghanaians in France around Paris region meet for their Church meetings, parties etc. This time it was for the funeral of Nana Kwaku Noble's mother-inlaw Maame Adwoa Nkrumah. The dress code was red and black which meant that the person died younger than he/she was expected and as usual, costom was respected by most of GiF present. Papa Kwabena from SDA Church opened with a prayer. After doing all the custom rites the microphone was unusually made open for GiFhene and Ohemaa to talk. This brought many surprised faces into the hall. Nanahemaa Adwoa Kour started by apologising on behalf of Nana Baffour who was said to have replied to Nana Akosua Agyapongmaa's(GiF Asantemanhemaa) insults. These insults where not made clear but the apology went to GiF women. She then gave the microphone to Nana Kennedy who made clear his position as Ghanahene and his rite to nominate someone to help him. He then declared Nana Baffour Nkosuohene of GiF. Asanteman Association Inaugurated Nana Kennedy failed to persuade the majority of GiF Nananom in many meetings to present Nana Baffour as the Nkosuohene. Is Nana right to do so without their knowledge? Nana Alfred Ato Smith (Mfantse Mboa Kuo President) anwsered yes to the question by saying " It is only a Chief who can nominate and choose a sub chief not a leader of an association" GiF Nananom remain divided over this issue. Is this enough to divide our community who has almost nothing to boast of in common apart from some few Black Stars shining in their various corners? We hope that Nkosuohene will bring progress and understanding into GiF.
